We warmly welcome you to Serangoon Junior College!

We know that all of you are looking forward to Orientation this Friday, and it will be an experience like no other! Our friendly College Ambassadors will be there to introduce you to life in SR with a week of activities and fun. 

Here's some details to take note of:

When: Friday, 3 Feb, 0825hrs
Where: SRJC Hall
Attire: Secondary School PE attire
What to do: Find out your Orientation Group outside the Hall or outside the General Office

Important Information for JC1 Freshmen

Congratulations on being posted to SRJC! JC1 freshmen should report at 0825hrs on Friday
3 February 2017 to the Hall in your Secondary School PE attire. Please bring along writing materials. Our College Ambassadors will be around to show you the way.

You have to choose and apply online for your subject combination by 2359hrs on Friday, 3 February 2017. Scroll down to "Choosing a Subject Combination" for more details on this important step in your JC life.

If you are interested in taking H2 Further Mathematics or H2 Art, or if you wish to take H2 Sciences but missed the specific subject requirements by one O-level numerical grade, be prepared to take a Qualifying Test on 3 Feb (FM and Sci) or 4 Feb (Art). Choosing a Subject Combination on Day 1

You have to choose and apply online for your subject combination by 2359hrs on Friday 3 February 2017.

A Guide to Choosing Your Subject Combination
Please give careful thought to this important decision, as it has implications on your future choice of university course and career pathways. 

SRJC has included in our Orientation Booklet a guide to choosing your subject combination, offering information about higher education and career pathways. You can download the Orientation Booklet for JC1 Freshmen here.
If you wish to have face-to-face discussions with teachers who are able to offer Education and Career Guidance (ECG), you can visit the ECG Booth at The Study from 1600hrs on Friday 3 Feb. You can refer to the College Map in the Orientation Booklet to locate the Booth.

The various Academic Departments will also have Subject Booths on Friday 3 Feb, located around the College. Further details will be available on the day itself.

Applying for Subject Combination on SRJC Portal
You must apply for your subject combination online, on the SRJC Portal. A guide to using the SRJC Portal and applying for subject combinations online can be found here. You will be guided through this process on Friday 3 Feb as well.

Applying for Subject Combination with H2 FM, H2 Sciences, H2 Art

If you wish to take any of the above H2 subjects, note the important information below.
To take...... you must
H2 Further Mathematics- Bring writing materials on Friday 3 Feb;
- Attend the Subject Talk by Further Mathematics tutors at 1150hrs at Lecture Theatre 1 (LT1);
- Register for the Qualifying Test immediately after the Subject Talk;
- Take the Qualifying Test at 1600hrs-1730hrs on Friday 3 Feb in Lecture Theatre 1 (LT1), and be deemed suitable for taking H2 Further Mathematics;
- Apply on the SRJC Portal by 2359hrs on Friday 3 Feb for the subject combinations you wish to take, including at least one without H2 Further Mathematics that you are prepared to take if you are not deemed suitable for taking H2 Further Mathematics. 
- Note that even after taking the Qualifying Test, if you change your mind before the 3 Feb deadline for application, you can still choose not to apply for H2 Further Mathematics. The results of your application would be known by the morning of Tuesday 7 Feb.
H2 Sciences
(for those who missed the Specific Subject Requirement by ONE O-Level numerical grade)
- Bring writing materials and a scientific calculator on Friday 3 Feb;
- Register for the relevant Qualifying Test with HOD/Science, Mr Oh Chee Tiong, at the Concourse between 1200h and 1415h on Friday 3 Feb;
- Take the relevant Qualifying Test from 1630h-1730h on Friday 3 Feb in classrooms B2-1 to B2-3, and be deemed suitable for taking the relevant H2 Science subject;
- Indicate to the tutors conducting the Qualifying Test (i) the subject combinations you are prepared to take if you are not deemed suitable for taking the H2 Science subject, and (ii) the subject combination you wish to take if you are deemed suitable;
- Apply on the SRJC Portal by 2359h on Friday 3 Feb for the subject combinations in point (i) above.
- Note that even after taking the Qualifying Test, if you change your mind before the 3 Feb deadline for application, you can still choose not to apply for the H2 Science subject. The results of your application would be known by the morning of Tuesday 7 Feb.
 H2 Art - Register for the Qualifying Test with Mr Darwin Goh, at the Art Subject Booth in the Humanities Room, between 1600hrs and 1700hrs on Friday 3 Feb;
- Prepare a portfolio for submission, and note other preparations required for the Qualifying Test;
- Apply on the SRJC Portal by 2359hrs on Friday 3 Feb for the subject combinations you are prepared to take if you are not deemed suitable for taking H2 Art (you would not be able to find any subject combinations with H2 Art on the SRJC Portal);
- Take and pass the Qualifying Test at 0900hrs-1130hrs on Saturday 4 Feb in the Art Room;
- Indicate to Mr Darwin Goh (i) the subject combinations you have applied for on the SRJC Portal on 3 Feb, and (ii) the subject combination you wish to take if you are deemed suitable to take H2 Art;
- Note that if you change your mind or are not deemed suitable for taking H2 Art, the College would consider offering you one of the subject combinations that you have indicated you are prepared to take. The results of your application would be known by the morning of Tuesday 7 Feb.
